Just picked up my vinyl copy of Big Boi's new album. Double White Vinyl+Pic Sleeve+Liner Sheets. Pimpadocious! Earlier this year when "Shutter Bug" and "For Your Sorrows" leaked, I had a feeling the LP was not gonna disappoint. Big Boi brings the heat on the lyrics, killer beats, and pushes the envelope on this project. The kinda quality we've come to expect from Outkast! A solid album from front to back, with some well placed skits thrown in for humor+context. Highly recommended! They gotta put out an all instrumental version to this album...
Just got these new slaps. First up is Tha Krookz ft Chris Kae "Fill My Cup". This slap is on that "bartender let me get another drink and try leave here with somebody" Snappy R&B tip yah dig!?!? Shout out to the homie Chris Kae, keep doin what cha doin!
Next up is a track by Fly Street Gang "No Go". A slap calling out folks on Front Street, Fake Gear etc...cause that's a "No Go".
Came across this compilation today @ Amoeba SF. Had to grab it! Always been buggin Pops' bout music form way back...not the re-done versions they got on Viet Variety Shows et al "Paris By Night". Basically I was looking for that funk, psych-folk-acid rock sound. Played this for him and he was naming the tracks and artist with no need of looking at the liner notes, Amazing! Highly recommended to anyone interested in Southeast Asian Pop music form 60-70's (side note: If ya Viet grab this, sure to bridge the generation gap, a great conversation piece with ya folks).
Here's a lil video I found on early viet rock clip from a variety show's special. Sorry no translation.
Just got these tracks in the past week or so...
First up the is a track form bay heavy hitter Locksmith called "Man Up". Solid 808 beat/80's Bay G-Funk synth bassline by EA-SKI, Locksmith delivers heat on the lyrics, balance by the female vocals in the chorus. Have a Listen.
Locksmith "Man Up" produced by EA-SKI
Next up is a new slap from Kafani called "She Ready Now"/the verdict: catchy chorus+infectious beat=summer jam heat!
Alright to round out the promos' just got this in the e-mail/Bobby Brackins & Cataracs "Bass Down Low RMX"
808 bass droppin beat/major lazzer/global bass-esque is how I would describe this monster of a jam! Check it out!

Yeah got to meet+open for Ant Marshall. One Half of the duo that created THE LYRICIST LOUNGE. Which started out as a open mic event in NYC with MC such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Eminem, Notorious B.I.G. etc blessing the mic, to mixtapes, to a MTV Freestyle/Sketch Comedy show. Ant and company played a great set, a blend of old club classics, some disco edit, afro beat, dancehall, and even showin a lil bay love. Lyricist Lounge...man that was a good chunk of my high school years soundtrack. Ant mention to me another mix/project is on the way Lyricist Lounge 3! Be on the lookout!
One of my fave Hip Hop jams! Classic. An Occult connection appeared to me the other day...been listening to Ordo Templi Orientis Podcast+reading up on Aleister Crowley, and a connection came to me. The number 93 is short hand greeting among Thelemites for a famous Crowley quote "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law, Love is the law, love under will." Thelma (Will)+Agape(Love) which numerically adds up to 93. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/93_(Thelema)
93 till Infinity...souls of mischief...Hieroglyphics...hmmm... Crowley "inspiration" came to him in a travel to Egypt... alot of lil interesting degrees of seperation. From pyramid album graphics...Khmetics/5 percenters name drops...etc...
Eh alot of Occult iconography/concepts in Hip Hop Music is a blend of Eastern/Western Esoteric traditions which traces back to origins in Egyptian Mystery Schools. Khmetics!
This Party was off the hook...On some of that feel good, classic, real HIP HOP tip. J-Rocc of the Legendary Beat Junkies/Stones Throw rocked the ones and twos hard...giving the crowd what the crowd need and then some (some ballsy MJ accapella drop/blends had me bugged out). The legendary Pete Rock took the night home...drop dope beats after dope beats gving SF that basement NYC party vibe.
Here some shots of the Legendary Pete Rock in action @ SOM SF

Nice she always surprises me with her gifts. One time she got me Public Enemy "It Takes Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" cd. I was like "what you know bout Public Enemy!?" My lil sis is the best! : )
Saw this today, couldn't help but to pick it up. Some sexy funk! On Pink Vinyl too... As I'm listening to this, I wonder has anyone dug more recent (80's, 90's, 2000's) adult film soundtracks. Do these even exist...hmmmm...google time lol!
Picked these up last week @ Amoeba SF. Solid LP. Beats+Rhymes are just so fitting the times "Stimulating". Vinyl version is a limited run Marble Green colored vinyl with gatefold+ $ bills shaped liner notes with Freeway & Jake One faces on it. The CD also has a cool design to it. It's wrapped in $ bills liner notes+the cd case opens up to reveal a cardboard wallet with a hidden black card in a pocket that allows you to DL free instrumental version+mp3 version of the album. Same card is also found in the Marble Green Vinyl version. Haven't seen a Hip Hop album with this much design work! The free digital download was a cool bonus (Saves time on ripping)
Feelin this track called "Money" at the moment of writing this. Check it out!
Nuff Said...King of the South T.I. is Back...Slaps! Sounds like he going back to a raw southern sound! Love the lil strings arrangement on this beat. Let's see what kinda inspiration he got during his brief incarceration!
It's been 13-14 years plus since his passing in 97, March 9th...drop a biggy track in any club today, it still rocks a crowd. That's Classic, Timeless, The Rap Phenomenon B.I.G.!
New Drake Single. Word on the internets/streets (lol) this could possibly be the lead single off his upcoming release "Thank Me Latter". Like how he flipped Dead Prez's "Hip Hop" verse in this song...swag!
Don't know if all of us were comfortable with Kanye singing on the last project "808 & Heartbreaks...it had to grow on ya for you to realize the genius work behind the tracks...well "Mr. Gay Fish" is back at it again with this little tune "Diamonds", no not "Diamond form Sierra Leone" just Diamonds (no conflict lol). Flow sounds like he recorded this after a night of "partying". As I was listening to the track one thought popped in my head "if I ran his vocals in a effects processor and flipped it to female vocals would he sound like Kelis?" LOL! Have a listen, make you own critique.
Some new heat, slaps from bay legend JT THE BIGGA FIGGA with Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane. That "No License" is a Zaytoven (from the bay) beat...yah don't knnowww et ah!
Just got hip to this from my homegirl LaTasha from "THE O". Her lil cuzo G5 The Jett got some slaps. The first track "Stallion" with Gorilla Zoe has been getting some radio play, and club play. Fiyah! Slaps! 2nd jam here "Go Ham" GOES as well! Check it out!

Picked up this 12" today at Amoeba. Dope remix by DJ Platurn+Kat010 of Midnightstar's "Midas Touch". Saw DJ Platurn perform an all vinyl set @ The Cellar "Skratchpad" yesterday. Awesome! Here are some pics from skratchpad (excuse the fuzz that's my low-fi camera on phone)
Here's a nice little video+audio sampling of the song
The cycle is complete...just tested try this 7" I just picked up with Serato+Vestex Handy Trax Portable Turntable combo. Success...the feel takes some time getting use to...mixing+light skratching is possible! Vinyl side is a cover song of Marvin Gaye "What's going on?" by Mr. Clean & The Soul Inc. Reverse side is Serato Control Tone.
